Today the subject is: sociality! (I think thats what it's called) :P
I think that you need friends. Everyone needs someone to talk to and to listen to to help get their mind off things. But how often should you see your friends? How much should you hang out, and how often should you be alone?
The truth is that time is one of the most important factors in friendship; that and how well a person is able to communicate with another.
Time can wear down boundaries between people, like a rock being shaped by the ocean, and it can present incidents that lead to friendship. Ever had that awkward moment when you have no way to spend your time (it could be while you're waiting for something, or on an airplane...) and so you start talking to the person beside you?
But time can also prevent friendships. At school, there's a lot of homework, almost too much. I don't get why we work again as soon as we get home from school... but that's another post. What I'm talking about with homework is that there is no free time, no spare moment when you have the choice to spend time with a friend. People resort to chatting on an invisible link that connects thousands around the world (I mean the internet :P) in front of an addicting shiny screen because there is just NO TIME. No time to hang out, relax, and get to know one another.
